ELS is Looking for an Experienced Paralegal to Join Employment Law Firm

Our Paralegal is a very important person in our firm. The Paralegal will assist the firm’s attorneys in every aspect of our practice. Our Attorneys rely heavily on the Paralegal for litigation and other types of matter support. Accordingly, the Paralegal must be able to keep track of many details at the same time and adapt to quickly changing deadlines and assignments. The person in this position must be a fast-learner with highly developed organizational skills and abilities.

Job requirements:

  • Dependable — must be able to work Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, court rules and procedures, practices etc.
  • Friendly and pleasant disposition
  • Ability to use good judgment and provide exceptional client service in all dealings with internal and external contacts, even in high stress situations
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to document and present information to attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel
  • Detailed oriented, ability to plan, problem solve, prioritize and multi-task deadlines and assignments
  • Fast learner, high degree of initiative and ability to work unsupervised efficiently
  • Excellent written and verbal grammar skills
  • Superb organizational skills and ability to track cases and deadlines
  • Must be able to take direction and be a team player
  • Familiarity with using computers for preparing, organizing and maintaining documents and files

Job responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining confidentiality
  • Conducting legal research and factual aspects of a case
  • Drafting pleadings and motions and filing documents with the court
  • Ability to proofread and cite check legal briefs
  • Experience working with a large volume of documents especially with discovery requests and responses, including completing first drafts
  • Fielding incoming calls and managing intake process
  • Maintaining attorney calendars and calendaring dates
  • Maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes
  • Opening new files, organizing case files, and tracking cases
  • Drafting transmittal letters and other routine correspondence
  • Assisting with the firm’s marketing and branding efforts, and other tasks as needed

Experience sought:

At least three years of relevant law firm experience is required. Employment Law/Litigation experience highly preferred. Paralegal certification or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, LEXIS, Clio and LawPay, highly desired.

Office location:

We are located in the Cumberland Mall area in a Class A building. This position requires the individual to come to the office. Periodically working from home can be considered.
