With more than a decade of firsthand experience starting, growing, and managing a business, Jamala understands the realities of profit and loss, personnel management, and making tough business decisions. Jamala leans on this unique perspective when advising clients through today’s ever-evolving employment landscape. Her guidance is grounded not only in law, but in the practical demands of running a business. 

A seasoned litigator, Jamala has particular expertise in trial preparation, including mock trials and jury strategy. She leverages her jury trial experience in her advice and counsel, c-suite investigations, and pre-trial litigation work. Her work in executive transitions reflects a balanced insight into both employer and employee perspectives—ensuring clients are positioned for fair, forward-looking resolutions. 

Jamala’s leadership extends beyond her firm. She is deeply involved in the legal community, having served in bar leadership roles and by appointment of the Georgia Supreme Court to critical judicial and bar-related commissions. Her professional reputation is built on integrity, effectiveness, and service, earning her widespread respect among judges, peers, and clients alike. 

Jamala’s career began with a federal clerkship at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan after graduating from the University of Michigan Law School. She spent over a decade practicing at two AmLaw 200 firms before founding ELS in 2013. 

Outside of work, Jamala finds inspiration in the outdoors, energizes with Zumba and biking, and unwinds through live music and Caribbean travel. Her greatest joy is time spent with her grandson, who only knows her as his “Luvie.”
